Abstract

Developing nations Educational innovation Generation Z Immersive technologies Learning experiences Textbooks
This chapter aims at increasing the learning experience in developing countries such as Nigeria by combining virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) with traditional textbooks. The disparities in education access, as well as generation Z students’ lack of interest for any traditional pedagogy, are discussed about. It investigates how immersive technologies such as VR and AR might act as catalysts for tackling these difficulties, with a particular emphasis on nations that are developing such as Nigeria. In addition, the research into the gamification and simulations to address the conventional teaching methods gap and personal preferences of contemporary learners was well discussed. The study shows that immersive technologies play a crucial and critical role in education. However, to achieve exponential learning experience with these technologies, the study stresses the necessity of appropriate infrastructure development, teacher training and implementation of support measures. This study could lead to educational reform, empower future generations and advance sustainable development initiatives in developing nations.
